Longford business people invited to CIPD talk on 'Absence Management: Reality & Practice'

The Midlands Region of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) is pleased to announce details of an upcoming talk, “Absence Management: Reality & Practice” which will be presented by Rita Gilsenan, Occupational Health Advisor, at 6pm on Tuesday, November 22 in the Sheraton Hotel, Athlone.

There will be a networking opportunity from 5.30pm followed by the speaker commencing at 6pm sharp.

This is the third talk in an exciting programme of events for 2016/2017 provided by the CIPD Midlands Region Committee. The theme for this year’s programme of events is “Navigating the Employment Relationship”.

This event will provide attendees with a valuable opportunity to consider best practice in managing absence to ensure a positive occupational health and safety culture is developed and maintained. The guidance offered will assist employers in gaining real benefits from improved attendance levels and increased productivity.

Based on extensive experience of working with a range of companies, Rita will offer advice which combines rhetoric, reality and practice and will address specific issues arising in a diverse range of absence management cases including areas such as back pain, post-natal depression and work related stress.

Rita Gilsenan is an Independent Occupational Health & Safety Advisor. She is the founder of aohealth Ltd and provides Occupational Health services for small, medium and large enterprises. She collaborates with key stakeholders on a regular basis to provide tailor made Occupational Health solutions.

Her career is underpinned by 23 years’ clinical experience as a registered general nurse and 13 years as lead Occupational Health Advisor for construction, manufacturing, banking, healthcare and insurance sectors.

Rita aims to prevent work related illness and mitigate work related claims. Her assertive approach to absence case management encourages employee resilience in response to personal and organizational change.

Rita provides triage, early intervention, rehabilitation and phased return to work programmes for sustained attendance in the work place. Her service is complimented by risk assessment, health promotion and line manager training.
