Ballymahon to play host to tractor run in aid of Convent Day Care Centre

Ballymahon’s first ever Tractor Run takes place on Sunday, April 14 and it will be officially launched by newly crowned Longford Rose Marie Brady.

All proceeds on the day goes to Ballymahon Day Care Centre. This will bring the Centre in line with today’s standards.

Work will commence when the Centre closes for the month of August and will need to be completed for when it re-opens in September.

All proceeds from the Tractor Run will go to make up the shortfall of funding required for the renovation works. On the day of the Tractor Run, all tractors are asked to park in the field opposite Nally's Topaz/Spar and walk across the road to register in Ballymahon Day Care Centre.

Any lorries, jeeps or trailers carrying tractors are asked to unload at Finn’s Centra on the Athlone road and park in their big car park in an orderly fashion. Registration opens at 11am with raffle cards on sale at €2 a line.

Tea and coffee and home- scones will be served before departure at 12 noon. The safety vehicle will go in front followed by the Vintage tractors which will set the pace. No tractor to overtake another tractor.

You are asked to stay in line at all times leaving a safe distance between you and the tractor in front of you. Please co-operate with Stewarts and Gardai on the day, safety is paramount.

The drive is 10K stopping halfway at Kenagh GAA Club for a half hour break. The run will finish at the original field in Ballymahon and you can then head back to the Day Care Centre where the raffle will take place and refreshments will be served.

There will be a special raffle for Ladies who come with their tractors and complete the run. A special word of thanks to all the Sponsors, to our business community for coming on board with donations and raffle prizes, to everyone who gave donations or raffle prizes in memory of a loved one.

Thanks to everyone who has offered their help on the day which is hugely appreciated.

Our Day Care Centre is a life-line to so many people who use it and its up to us to support the great work that the Centre does.
