Concern following collapse of wall at Barley Harbour

The damaged wall at Barley Harbour

The scenic setting of Barley Harbour, near Newtowncashel was the location of a recent unfortunate accident.
It's believed a car hired from a rental company crashed into the wall, causing it to collapse.

The wall is situated at the edge of the iconic Barley Harbour. Councillor Martin Skelly (FG) told the Leader that “anything that could damage the environment in this area is disappointing.”
“The matter was referred to An Garda Siochana and is being investigated,” the local elected representative added.

The wall is privately owned. Cllr Skelly hopes that the wall will be rebuilt as soon as possible.
“This is an isolated area where people come for peace and quiet. Hopefully, the wall will be rebuilt,” he commented.
