Scripts is calling for Longford writers
Scripts Ireland’s Playwriting Festival seeks new works from writers, poets, dreamers, and schemers. For both established and emerging playwrights.
The theme this year is Dreams there should be no more than 3 characters, and there is a limit of one play submission per applicant.
Doesn’t matter if the dreams are large and envisions for the future or the small and just day to day dreams. In the words of the wonderfully talented Dolores O’Riordan, “Oh my life is changing everyday, in every possible way, and oh my dreams, it's never quite as it seems.”
The play is to be 15 minute long on the theme “Dreams.” Deadline for submissions is Friday, March 30.
Taking place in Birr, Co Offaly Monday 11 – Sunday 17 June, Ireland’s Playwriting Festival creates opportunities for playwrights to have their work developed and produced.
The scripts most suited for development will be chosen by the selection panel headed by playwright Eugene O'Brien
You must be available to be in Birr from Monday June 11 Thursday June 14 and attend the headline event at Birr Theatre & Arts Centre on Sunday June 17, where the plays will be performed.
There will be a prize for "Best Play" and there are also opportunities for winning playwrights to meet and talk with production and dramaturgy departments of professional theatre companies and network with production partners.
The winning play may then go on to represent the festival in further opportunities and events, should production partners deem it appropriate.
Playwrights can submit plays through the submission form at www.scriptsireland.com.
To manage the cost & to improve sustainability of the festival, we have introduced an administration fee of 5 euro payable to submit a play.
