Fleadh Ceoil kicks off in Granard

The Co Longford Fleadh Ceoil will kick off this Friday at 4pm with the Comhra Gaelige competitions at Granard Library.

This year’s county fleadh will also host a fantastic Storytelling competition which will commence at 7pm following Comhra Gaelige in the Library.

This will be followed by a session in the Greville Arms Hotel.

Saturday and Sunday will also be busy with the musical and dancing/Rince entries.

These will include fiddle, banjo, whistle, flute, drums, mandolin, piano, button accordion, harp, concertina, ceili bands etc and the first and second place winners will have the pleasure of representing the county at the Leinster Finals 2017 which will be held in July in Ballymahon.

“I would like to congratulate the Brady Family who are members of our branch as 1st place winners of the busking competition 2016,” said Kate McKenna.

“We have noticed that a lot of little people have moved up over the years and are now appearing on top shows on RTE and TG4.

“Well done to all and I wish you the best of luck in the future.”

“I look forward to meeting you all this year again if not in competitions maybe at a session.”
