The late Michael Mulroy, Gaybrook, Mullingar, Westmeath / Swinford, Mayo
The community of Ballinalee were saddened to learn of the death of retired Garda Michael (Mick) Mulroy, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026 surrounded by his loving family, in palliative care with the wonderful staff of St Camillus Nursing Centre, Killucan.
Mick served the Ballinalee community from 1984, carrying out his duties with dedication, professionalism and genuine care for all those he met.
He later transferred closer to home to Ballinacarrigy, but his connection with Ballinalee never faded. Even after leaving the area, Mick made regular return visits to attend local events and catch up with friends.

A highly respected individual, Mick will be fondly remembered for his kindness, approachability and strong sense of community spirit.
He was predeceased by his parents Edward and May, and infant daughter Róisín.
The deepest sympathies of the Ballinalee community are extended to his wife Bernie, daughters Katie and Hannah, and his grandsons Ted, Shay and Finn, sons-in-law Cillein and Mikey, brother Jim, sisters Peggy (Guinan), Anne (Lawrence), Moya (Meade), Teresa, Kathleen (Reidy), Carmel, Eileen (Mulholland), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, extended family and the incredible circle of neighbours and friends who treasured him so dearly.

Funeral Mass took place on Wednesday, January 21 in St Joseph’s Church Milltownpass, followed by private cremation.
