Backstage hosts Romeo and Juliet

The legendary tale of Romeo and Juliet is set to take centre stage at the Backstage Theatre on Saturday May 12 next. Produced by the National Ballet of Ireland, this work was first choreographed by Morgann Runacre-Temple in 2010.

Based on Shakespeare’s tale of the star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet is one of the greatest love stories of all time. Against a backdrop of ancient feuds and gang warfare, the ill-fated young couple fall instantly and hopelessly in love. But their families are bitter enemies, and in order to be together the two lovers must be prepared to risk everything.

This breathtaking production of Romeo and Juliet set to Sergei Prokofiev’s incredible score, will be performed by 16 top professional dancers trained in the finest schools all over the world. The cast will be led by Dublin born, Zoe Ashe-Browne who created the role of Juliet in the original production.
