Craic-tastic line-up unveiled for the Comedy Arena at this year's Electric Picnic

A stellar line-up of comedians awaits at this year's Comedy Arena at Electric Picnic.

The upcoming Electric Picnic festival in Stradbally, Co Laois promises a diverse array of comedic styles, ensuring the attendees are treated to top-tier entertainment throughout the weekend.

BAFTA award-winner Aisling Bea, celebrated for her series "This Way Up", will headline the event. Bea is renowned for her incisive and sharp-witted humour, an assessment affirmed by The Guardian's description of her performances as "a ridiculous, furious treat". Other notable acts include Foil Arms and Hog, making a much-anticipated return to Electric Picnic for their exclusive Irish festival performance this year.

Russell Kane, known for his passionate and energetic comedic style, is another must-watch. Joining him will be Adam Rowe, star of "Live At The Apollo" and host of the popular podcast "Have A Word".

Shane Todd, hailed by the Belfast Telegraph as a "modern day king of comedy", and the quick-witted Neil Delamere are both set to return after their impressive performances in previous editions of the festival.

The line-up also boasts a number of rising stars in the comedy world. Diona Doherty, fresh off the success of her debut play "Bridesmaids", will be taking the stage, as will the brilliant Emma Doran and Gearoid Farrelly.

Veteran comedian John Colleary, preparing for his national tour "Loud and Colleary", will also feature, along with Tony Cantwell's signature humour.

The weekend will further spotlight several stalwarts of the comedy circuit, such as Joe Rooney, Colm O’Regan, and Danny O’Brien, among others. In line with Electric Picnic's tradition of promoting emerging talent, newcomers like Ania Magliano, Amy Walsh, and Aideen McQueen will make their Comedy Arena debuts.

Guiding the audience through this rich tapestry of comedic talent will be the accomplished Karl Spain, serving as the MC for the weekend. The Comedy Arena is scheduled to begin at 1:30pm on both September 2 and 3.
