Tails were wagging in Longford town on Sunday afternoon as the Attic House presented its dog show for the four-legged friends of the county.

Crowds of pooches and their humans arrived at the Attic premises over the weekend to take part in a range of competitions and try their paws at winning a few top prizes.

“A great afternoon at the Attic House,” organisers posted on the Attic Facebook page on Sunday night.

“Thank the heavens for not opening and raining on our dog parade. Oh it was doggie heaven at the Attic today with so many georgous fur babies to admire and in some case laugh with. Well done to all who participated and to those who won prizes in each of the classes.”

Sponsors for Sunday's event included Seamus and Maura Gettings from Beechilawn Kennels, who sponsored the champion and reserve classes.

Beatrice Cassidy sponsored all class trophies, while other sponsors included Petstop, Homeland, Maxs Zoo, Longford Animal Health Centre, Derryharrow Kennels, McCarrick's, Paddy Hanlon's Gala, Simona's, Emma Plant, C&D, Frank Kiernan, Fidelma Fenlon, MElissa Whelan, Torc Cafe, Newsround, Farrell & Coy and Davis Supervalu.

Special thanks was offered to all of the volunteers who helped out on the day, as well as Gertrude Malone who was the judge for the event.

There were dogs in fancy dress, talented pooches and simply adorable fur babies, all of whom had an enjoyable afternoon at the Attic House, which has hinted that it will host the show again in 2020.
