Longford swimmer Darragh Greene wins three medals at Flanders Cup in Belgium

Longford swimmer Darragh Greene won three medals - gold, silver and bronze - at the Flanders Cup in Belgium this weekend.

Darragh, the Irish record holder for the 100m and 200m Breastroke, was part of the Irish National squad and he finished with the 5th highest Fina points of the meet.

His team mate, Shane Ryan, registered the third highest Fina points. 

On Saturday, Darragh captured a gold medal in the 50m Breaststroke in a time of 27.72. Arno Kamminga (Holland) 27.87 and T Bjerg (Denmark) 28.02 finished in the silver and bronze medal positions, respectively. 

In the 200m Breaststroke, Darragh finished with a bronze medal after completing the race in a time of 2.12:89. The winner was Arno Kamminga (Holland) in 2.10:64 and M Koch (Germany) finished second in 2.10:85.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, Darragh won a silver medal in the 100m Breaststroke in a time of 1.01:07, finishing behind Arno Kamminga (Holland) 1.00:31, with Andrius Sidlauskas (Lithuania) 1.01:08 in the bronze medal position. Darragh was 4th fastest qualifier from the heats, recording a time of 1.02:41. 

The Irish team in Flanders at the weekend also included; Calum Bain, Niamh Coyne, Conor Ferguson, Ben Griffin, Danielle Hill, Brendan Hyland, Robbie Powell, Shane Ryan and Jordan Sloan.
