Once again, this Christmas Day at 12 noon and starting from Connolly Barrack, a friendly bunch of happy souls will be taking to the streets of Longford to help some of the most vulnerable people in the developing world.
There are many ways to make Christmas in Longford special - this is just one proven way.
The Longford GOAL Mile is one of the longest GOAL events running in the country and to date has raised in excess of €100,000 to help those who need it most.
Every year, families home from far flung places and home based supporters come together in a happy festive atmosphere. It's a fun fundraiser with the minimum of fuss.
All you have to do is turn up, walk it, run it, enjoy the craic and any donation, however small, is always welcome.
This year again, everything will be the same. The GOAL Mile starts at the gates of Connolly Barracks, and proceeds via Bridge Street, Main Street, Dublin Street, New Street, Ballymahon Street, and back along Main Street, and Bridge Street, to finish at the Barracks. The start time remains the same too, which is 12 noon.
For many local families the walk /run is as much a part of the Christmas day as the turkey and ham.
Hopefully this support will continue.
At the end of the Mile, you'll receive a certificate and with it, loads of the festive feel good factor! The entire event takes less than 30 minutes and you're guaranteed to go home with a smile on your face, no matter what the weather throws at us.
While we relax and take it easy over the Christmas holiday period, the nurses and doctors and engineers continue their efforts to work tirelessly for the hungry, homeless and hopeless.
That life saving work must continue and hopefully you can support an organisation you can trust in their vital work.
Looking forward to your presence on Christmas morning!
