Late Rena Kielty (nee Monaghan) Rooskeymore, Culfadda, Ballymote Co Sligo and formerly of Killeen, Granard, Co Longford and ex staff Sligo University Hospital

A cloud of sadness and genuine regret descended on the Bunlahy and north Longford area when the news broke on Sunday, October 18 last that Rena Kielty had passed to her eternal reward following an illness in Northwest Hospice Sligo.

Rena was beloved wife and best friend of Noel Kielty of Rooskeymore, Culfadda, Ballymote, Co Sligo and dear mother of Luke, Cormac and Joseph.

Predeceased by her parents Paddy and Bea Monaghan of Killeen, Granard, County Longford, Rena was a past pupil of Killeen National School and of Ardscoil Phádraig Granard.

Rena was on the staff of Sligo University Hospital where she was very popular with everyone and indeed she was very helpful to her work colleagues and to patients and their families.

It was always a joy to meet Rena when she came to visit her siblings as she always had a great welcoming smile and was always ready for a chat.

In the past year Rena's health began to fail and life became hard for her and her loving family but she accepted her illness as the will of God and her great concern was not for herself but for her immediate and extended family.

Rena will be sorely missed by her family and many friends and all who had the pleasure of knowing her and we extend our sincere sympathy to Noel, Luke, Cormac and Joseph and also to her sisters Mary, Anna Rose, Helen, Maggie, Assumpta and Theresa, her brothers Willie, Mickey, Pat, Ned and Donie, aunt Anna Murphy USA, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews and nieces, her many cousins from both Monaghan and Fagan families and to her dear friend Eibhlin.

Rena reposed in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Culfadda on Tuesday evening, October 20 and large crowds passed through to offer sympathy and support to her family and to say farewell to a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, work colleague and friend and the church was packed to overflowing on Wednesday morning for her funeral Mass.

Following the Mass, Rena made her final journey through her native Longford on way to Cavan and as the hearse passed the family home in Killeen crowds of neighbours and friends formed a Guard of Honour and wished her God speed to her heavenly home where her parents Bea and Paddy were waiting to welcome her.

May she rest in peace.
