Cllr Paul Ross is the first Longford candidate to pass the post in the Longford local elections. Cllr Ross returns to the chamber with 1,300 first preferences 297 over the quota.
With a valid poll of 7,019 votes the quota stands at 1,003.
“I'm absolutely delighted to get elected,” Cllr Ross told the Leader, “I put an awful lot of work into this game.”
The Legan councillor spoke of the uncertanty before the announcement was made: “You never know how you are going until the count. There can be national factors, or local factors, but to come her today and be selected by he people of Longford makes me absolutely delighted.”
