AUDIO: Longford 'has a lot to offer' says Council Cathaoirleach following special Cameron meeting

The positive aspects of Longford need to be harnessed, according to Longford County Council Cathaoirleach, Mick Cahill, who spoke to the Leader following a special meeting of the Council's Corporate Policy Group this afternoon.

Cllr Cahill called the meeting last week in the wake of an announcement by Cameron that they were considering closing their production department in Longford.

Pointing out that the IDA, Enterprise Ireland, Longford Local Enterprise Office and the Regional Skills forum were in attendance, Cllr Cahill said that the meeting was a successful one which they will follow up on.

“We do feel we have been left behind, we have a lot to offer,” Cllr Cahill added.
