Along with people like Joe Williams RIP, Tom Cunningham, Ray Masterson and John Joe Brennan, so dedicated Sean was one of the founders of the League back in 1990.

Sean has worn many hats over the years, including PRO, Secretary, Fixture Secretary, SFAI delegate and he also had the honour of travelling abroad with several underage International teams.

From writing match reports, making fixtures, updating league tables and attending meetings, Sean is one of the League’s most respected administrators.

The first big break for the Longford and District Schoolboy/Girl League was purchasing the Abbeycartron grounds which gave them a home.

After a couple of seasons, they affiliated to the SFAI and this allowed the local clubs to take part in the SFAI Cups and the Kennedy Cup.

“All this would not have been possible without the help of some terrific people and Tom Cunningham, John Maloney, Michael Nevin and John Kirwan immediately come to mind,” said Sean.

As everyone involved in underage football knows, the highlight of Schoolboy and Schoolgirl football are the Kennedy and Gaynor Cups. Longford have enjoyed some great days in Limerick and Sean Dempsey was there to witness all of them.
