WATCH: Shocking footage of group assault on major Dublin city shopping street as man arrested

The footage, which has been blurred, appears to show two men assaulted by a group, as dozens of onlookers pass by on Henry Street.

Video footage has emerged of a daylight fight involving multiple people in Dublin city centre this week.

The video, which appears to show two men being attacked by a large group, occurred on Thursday morning shortly after 11am.

One woman, off camera, seemingly calls the two men "thugs", and the large group quickly surrounds them.

At one point, at least three attackers seem to be surrounding one of the men, throwing punches until he falls to the ground.

The other man dashed into a nearby clothes shop for safety, while the other was pinned to the ground by an assailant.

Gardaí arrived at the scene shortly after, and one arrest was made.

"Gardaí responded to reports of a theft from an individual on Henry Street, Dublin 1, shortly after 11am on Thursday morning," a garda spokesperson said.

"A 30-year-old male was arrested at the scene and taken to a Garda Station in the city centre. He has since been charged and appeared before Dublin District Court on the 17th October 2024".

As the matter is now before the courts, gardaí said that no further information can be provided at this time.
