Accomplished Longford fiddle player Laura Doherty was centre stage among 80,000 ecstatic Croke Park fans last night as she accompanied Robbie Williams and Garron Noone during their performance of John Denver’s classic ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’.
GAA headquarters was heaving with excitement as Williams introduced Mayo singer Noone to join him on stage as part of his ‘The Unforgettable Concert’ gig.
And eagle-eyed Longfordians in the full house were immensely proud to also see Laura .
A talented multi-instrumentalist, Laura, who started playing music at age six and is a past student of Moyne Community School, won several provincial and All-Ireland Fleadh medals representing John Dungan CCE and county Longford. .
A 2021 graduate of the Irish World Academy at the University of Limerick, Laura has since built a vibrant career on both national and international stages.

Over the past eight years, she’s toured extensively—both solo and with renowned Irish dance shows like Rhythm of the Dance, Celtic Legends, and Emerald Isle—performing in over 30 countries across 5 continents from Argentina to Azerbaijan..
She’s also a member of BIIRD, who played to a sold-out crowd in Vicar Street.
Indeed, at the recent All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in Wexford, Laura and BIIRD joined Ed Sheeran for a memorable impromptu gig.
