The Lus na Greine Family Resource Centre in Granard provides opportunities for people who wish to socialise and upskill.
This August, they are offering classes in sign language on Tuesdays and Thursdays, for which there has been an amazingly high take-up.
We went along and chatted to the tutors and participants, asking them why they were so eager to learn sign language. We also spoke to the centre’s co-ordinator Eileen Finan on the importance of Lus na Greine, what it offers, and the budgetary challenges it faces in the coming years.
