The Drumcree bog fest is set to make a triumphant return

The Drumcree bog festival is due to take place in Westmeath this weekend on Saturday, May 4, and Sunday, May 5.

The two-day event has been organised in aid of North Westmeath hospice, the local church fund and the Midland Simon Community. This year’s installment marks the second year of the event.

Day one will run from 9am to 1pm. TR Dallas is the star of day one, with music and dancing on the bog. There will also be food served on the day.

Gates open from 1pm on day two, with a range of turf-related competitions taking place. There will be a traditional turf cutting competition in teams of three, with slanes provided.

Day two runs until 7pm and there will be more music and dancing to enjoy, courtesy of Noel O’Neill ,the Hogan family, Tom Power, the Wexford Latchico and Noel Briody. This will be followed by the Queen of the Bog competition.

Entry is €10 for adults and children go free.
