Abbeyshrule will provide the setting for an enjoyable night of entertainment this Saturday.
The Rustic Inn in Abbeyshrule will play host to an enjoyable night of entertainment this Saturday, March 30, in aid of Irish Pilgrimage Trust.
The Gateway Singers from Buncrana in Donegal, and a Traditional Irish Group will perform some music, followed by John Conlon from Tang to finish the night off.
Fr Michael McGrath will be MC for the night and there will be plenty of raffle prizes on offer.
The Irish Pilgrimage Trust is a registered charity in Ireland and, for over 40 years, the Trust has been travelling to Lourdes with young people from all over Ireland who have special needs.
The Trust has over a thousand people travelling at Easter time and it is divided into small groups of approximately nine young people and 11 volunteer carers who stay in one of the many hotels in Lourdes with young people from Longford and Westmeath.
The pilgrimage to Lourdes is fully funded for the young people who are selected to travel and all carers will pay their own fares.
Each year, Group 108 from Longford have a number of fundraising events to cover the costs of the trip for young people from the region.
“We appreciate the generosity of the Gateway Singers from Buncrana and our friends at the Rustic Inn and we look forward to a wonderful evening's entertainment on Saturday, March 30,” said Emmet Kenny, who is one of the organisers.
Emmet is a carer from Moydow and, together with his girlfriend Leigh Kelly from Legan, he is organising this event in aid of the children.
“We thank everyone across the region for your generous support in the past and ask for your support this year for this very worthy cause.”
If you know of any young person who you think would benefit from a trip to Lourdes, perhaps they could travel with the group next year.
Contact Leigh, Emmet, Fr Michael or any group member for more information.
The show kicks off at 8.30pm in the Rustic Inn, Abbeyshrule, this Saturday, March 30. Tickets can be purchased on the door for €10.
All support is much appreciated.
