Christmas Stars in Your Eyes goes down a treat in Edgeworthstown

The Parkhouse Hotel, Edgeworthstown was the venue for the Christmas Stars in Your Eyes show in aid of Mostrim Ladies GAA and the Ria Molly Fund on Saturday and Sunday last.

Fullhouses watched as sixteen acts performed a medley of new and old Christmas favourites.

Ably MC’d by Cathal Kelly and Brigid Duffy, and with music provided by Dessie Rynn, the crowds enjoyed the show, with its blend of traditional music mixed in with light-hearted comedy items.

Majella Kelly was the choreographer and a large band of volunteers helped with make-up, costumes, props, ticket selling and making sure everything ran smoothly.

On Sunday the most popular man in the world, Santa Claus paid a visit to the delight of the children in attendance.

On Saturday the runners up were - Absolutely Fabulous - Siobhan Hynes/Bernadette McLoughlin while the winners were Shane MacGowan/Kirsty MacColl - Damien Doherty/Betty Fox.

On Sunday night – the Children’s Choice went to Wizzard – Paula Hussey, Sylvia Connell, Paula Cullen, Sarah Tierney and Oonagh Hussey. Audience runners-up were The Rat Pack (Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin/Sammy Davis Jr.) - Peter Costello/Richie Cheevers/Philip Greene while the overall winners were Spike Jones – Mark Monaghan/Charlie Murray.

The organisers would like to thank the Parkhouse Hotel for providing the facilities, Nugent’s for light and sound equipment, all the sponsors for their generosity and all the audience who came out in such big numbers to support the occasion.

Seventy percent of the funds raised goes to the Mostrim Ladies with the remaining thirty percent going to the Ria Molly fund.
