Met Éireann has said Ireland will welcome back 25C temperatures before the week is out but there is some bad news for two areas of the country.

Their outlook for the coming days says it will be "warm and humid but with possible thundery showers" affecting some areas.

For Wednesday, Met Éireann says: "A mix of cloud and sunny spells with passing showers, most frequent across Ulster and Leinster, some heavy or prolonged with the chance of lightning later. Cool for early September with highs of 13 to 16 degrees in mostly moderate northwest winds. Heavy thundery showers will mainly affect eastern counties this evening.

"Tonight [Wednesday] showers will become isolated but with mist and fog developing locally. Lows of 7 to 11 degrees, in light to moderate northeast winds.

"Thursday will be a predominantly dry day with sunny spells across the western half of the country and somewhat cloudier skies elsewhere. During the evening showery rain will begin to feed into east and southeast areas. Highs of 17 to 20 degrees, warmest further west. Northeast winds will be mostly moderate in strength, strong at times along eastern coasts," the forecast added.

The real change comes on Friday with temperatures expected to hit the mid-20s but watch out for thundery rain if you live in the east or south of the country.

Met Éireann predicted: "Warm and humid with spells of sunshine occurring widely. However, thundery rain will possibly affect southern counties, especially coastal areas. Highs of 21 to 25 degrees in moderate northeasterly winds.

"Rather warm and close overnight, with the chance of thunderstorms across southern and eastern areas. Some fog in places too. Lows of 12 to 16 degrees, in light northeast winds.

"Some further thundery rain across southern and eastern counties [this weekend] with mostly dry conditions for the rest of the country. Warmer and drier on Saturday with values in the low to mid twenties. Fresher conditions will feed into north and northwest areas on Sunday," Met Éireann concluded.
