Following their futile and costly journey to Waterford last weekend, Longford senior footballers are poised to get their Allianz Division 4 League campaign underway at home to London in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park this Sunday at 1pm.
Mike Solan’s side were scheduled to meet Waterford in Fraher Field, Dungarvan last Saturday, however the encounter was postponed at the 11th hour owing to torrential rainfall and the unavailability of an alternative venue capable of hosting the match.

It was far from ideal for the Longford players, management and officials who had journeyed to the south east the night before in preparation for the fixture.
As of yet no date has been confirmed for the rescheduled first round tie and it will be at a Waterford venue.

London, at home in McGovern Park, Ruislip, drew with Tipperary (0-21 apiece) on Sunday in their opening league assignment and that match will stand them in good stead ahead of their trip to meet Longford.
