Longford/Westmeath Racing News: Local jockey Movin And Groovin with her first winner

Salvator Mundi confirmed his position at the head of the ante-post markets for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival when winning for Paul Townend and Willie Mullins at Punchestown

Collinstown’s Nicola Burns rode her first winner for trainer Ado McGuinness and her seventh in all when partnering Movin And Groovin to take the six-furlong apprentice handicap at Dundalk on Friday.


Burns made all the running on the 5/2 chance which gamely saw off the challenge of David Marnane’s 11/10 favourite Tomarlo by half a length.


Rory Cleary landed the surprise of the evening as he took the eight-furlong maiden with the 50/1 chance Calm The Jets.

A barrier trial graduate, the Cormac Farrell three-year-old led after two furlongs and was well on top as he beat John O’Donoghue’s Lady Plimsoll by two and three-parts of a length.
