Maggie, Conor, Laura, Owen and Joey McGann with the Canon Hamilton Cup after Feakle won the Clare senior hurling championship final on Monday
There was a proud Longford connection as Feakle captured Clare Senior Hurling Championship glory for the first time since 1988 on bank holiday Monday with a comprehensive 1-17 to 0-13 victory over Sixmilebridge at Cusack Park, Ennis.
The Feakle squad, club of legendary Clare 1995 and 1997 All-Ireland winning manager Ger Loughnane, featured the McGann brothers, Owen and Conor, who are natives of Kenagh, Co Longford.
Owen certainly left his mark on the final as just four minutes after being sprung from the bench he blasted home the game's only goal in the 41st minute, giving Feakle a commanding 1-13 to 0-7 cushion and it was a stranglehold they weren't to relinquish.

Hogan, a grandson of the late Phelim Murphy - a legendary figure for decades in Galway hurling circles, is also on the shortlist for PwC GAA/GPA Young Hurler of the Year along with Eoin Downey (Cork) and Cathal O’Neill (Limerick).
