Ardagh's Melissa O'Kane has signed for Shamrock Rovers Wonen's senior side who will play in the Premier Division of the National League next season

Republic of Ireland U-19 International, Longford's Melissa O'Kane from Ardagh, has left Athlone Town to sign for Shamrock Rovers Women's Premier Division squad in the National League next season.

Speaking on her arrival at Rovers, 18-year-old O’Kane said “I am delighted to join Shamrock Rovers, it will be a great challenge for me and an opportunity to further my career. I’m very excited for the season ahead and can’t wait to get started in pre-season.”

Shamrock Rovers Women’s senior team manager Collie O’Neill said, “I am delighted to have Melissa on board. She is a young player who can play in several positions, she reads the game very well and is technically very good on the ball”.

Head of Shamrock Rovers Women’s football, Jason Carey is also very happy to have Melissa on board saying “Melissa has a lot of experience in the league despite being quite young, she is a really good, tough defender who also has excellent technical ability when in possession. She definitely fits the profile of the type of player we want at the club.”
