Whatever slim hopes Longford Town had of securing a last ditch place in the First Division promotion play-offs were finally extinguished following the defeat against Cobh Ramblers at St Colman's Park on Friday night.

Stephen Henderson’s side suffered a fourth consecutive loss and will have nothing but pride to play for in their remaining fixtures at home to Bray Wanderers (on Saturday night next) and away to Athlone Town in the final game of the season.
Goals from Wilson Waweru and former Longford player Jack Doherty clinched the win for third in the table Cobh Ramblers who are preparing for the play-offs and a shot at promotion to the Premier Division next season.
Waweru broke the deadlock from a header in the 36th minute and Doherty scored the second goal just before the final whistle in the third minute of stoppage time to clinch all three points for the home side.
