Renewed appeal over Longford armed robbery

Gardaí have issued a fresh appeal for witnesses into the circumstances behind an armed robbery at a shop in Longford town last month.

The incident took place at a premises on Earl Street on August 16 when a masked raider walked into the store and threatened staff with a knife.

The masked raider, who remained in the premises for a number of minutes, demanded cash but fled a short time later with a number of other items.

Gardaí attended the scene a short time later and took statements from staff.

CCTV footage from the incident has been canvassed by detectives, but gardaí are hoping potentially crucial eye witness evidence could pave the way for a breakthrough into the investigation.
