Clooncoe House is one of the oldest continuously -inhabited homes in Co. Leitrim, constructed circa 1780 as the Steward’s House at Lough Rynn.
The property has been sympathetically and extensively restored and extended, providing wonderful residential accommodation, together with facilities to trade as a bed-and-breakfast.
Clooncoe stands at 5.8 acres of ancient woodlands with bluebells, landscaped gardens and lawns, and direct access and foreshore onto Lough Rinn. A truly unique property.
Sherry FitzGerald Farrell previously sold this property in the early 1990’s for a member if the Clements family, a direct descendent of the Earls of Leitrim.
The House
Clooncoe House is rich with history and dates back to the 1800s to the Clements family Earls of Leitrim. The house once served as the home for the stewards and estate managers of Lough Rynn Estate for two centuries.
A charmingly decorated entrance hall with classic Victorian tiling welcomes you into Clooncoe House. A front drawing room to the left has a dual aspect, looking on to the lawns and gardens. This space exudes elegance and could comfortably accommodate large parties. On the other side of the hall a door leads to an inner hallway.
Off this is the kitchen which holds a Stanley range, exposed ceiling beams and original flagstone flooring, creating a very homely and cosy family space.
At the end of the hallway is the magnificent formal dining room. This is a bright and light-filled space with solid wood flooring and large double doors providing a seamless transition onto the patio where one can enjoy views of the water and surrounding countryside.
Beyond this lies a generous double bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and views of the magical woodlands.
A breakfast room, bathroom and pantry lie beyond the kitchen.
Upstairs there are three spacious double bedrooms one of which is ensuite. Each bedroom is carpeted throughout and has timeless sash windows complemented by matching window shutters.
GARDENS and GROUNDS
The property is approached by a tree lined driveway of native beech and oak tree, entered via a dual entrance both with crafted stone pillars and a pair of decorative cast iron gates eventually culminating in a turning circle and a parking area with ample space.
The c. 2.35 hectares (5.81 acres) of beautifully landscaped gardens and mature trees at Clooncoe House gift a truly private oasis within its boundaries as well as idyllic viewing points of Lough Rynn.
With direct and private access to the Lough Rynn, you can enjoy a host of water activities such as boating, canoeing, fishing and swimming.
A separate charming stone front building with original features is situated adjacent to the main house. It is currently used as a snug with a kitchen, separate bathroom and upstairs loft, suitable for a variety of uses subject to the necessary planning permission.
Outbuildings include a stable block comprising of 3 stables and a larger shed to rear that could be used as a home gym or a number of other uses.
