Flynn is ranked 11th in the Challenge Tour which is the reserve league used for PDC Player's Championship events.

Flynn spoke to BBC Sport following the biggest result of his darting career against 'MVG'. Flynn said:

"MVG wasn't the name you want to see as your first opponent - you'd hope for an easier game." Especially as an amateur contender against one of the fiercest competitors playing the game today. But he felt confident heading into the tournament as he says "I knew my form was good coming into the tournament but to beat a three-time world champion is a massive moment in my career."

Flynn lost out in the next round against against Tytus Kanik of Poland, as Chris Dobey went on to the event at a canter against Jelle Klaasen in the final.

This comes on the same week that Premiere League Darts makes its way to Dublin's 3Arena where Van Gerwen will have the chance to redeem himself in front of an Irish crowd, as he is one of favourites to take home the title in Dublin.
