RIP: Longford woman’s legacy will continue to inspire future educators and students

Late Rose Wyse (née McCormack), Dublin Road, Longford town, Longford and formerly of Cloncullen, Ballymore, Co Westmeath

The late Rose Wyse (née McCormack), Dublin Road, Longford town, Longford and formerly of Cloncullen, Ballymore, Co Westmeath is fondly remembered as a person who worked tirelessly to ensure that everyone had the opportunity to succeed.

Rose passed to her eternal reward, peacefully surrounded by her family, on Thursday, July 10, in the tender care of the doctors and staff of the Midlands Regional Hospital, Mullingar.

In a lovely tribute posted on social media, Ballymahon Vocational School remembered Rose as a cherished member of Longford VEC and later Longford Westmeath ETB.

“We are very sorry to hear of the passing of a great friend to Ballymahon Vocational School over the years, Rose Wyse. Rose was a cherished member of Longford VEC and later LWETB.

“For over 40 years Rose was a steadfast advocate for education, and her contributions to Ballymahon Vocational School and the broader Longford community will forever be remembered.

“Rose’s dedication to the promotion of education at Ballymahon Vocational School was evident in all her interactions with us on various projects over the years.

“Despite her senior role at Longford VEC, she was always approachable, generous with her time, and eager to provide support, direction, and advice to all.

“Her commitment to fostering an inclusive education system for all students was unparalleled, and she worked tirelessly to ensure that everyone had the opportunity to succeed.

“Her passion for public service was commendable. Her legacy will continue to inspire future generations of educators and students alike. Rose believed in the transformative power of education and dedicated her life to making it accessible to all. We thank her for really making a positive difference in so many people’s lives. Rest in peace, Rose.”

The late Rose Wyse was predeceased by her parents Eugene and Anne and by her brother Thomas.

She will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, husband Larry, son Larry Jnr., sisters Marie Connolly (Athlone), Helen Hickey (Limerick), Dympna Creighton (Clonbalt Woods, Longford), Pauline Foudy (Glack, Longford) and Sandra Dowd (Newtowncashel), brothers Eugene (Cloncullen) and Vincent (Moate), sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She lay in repose at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road on Sunday, July 13 and following Mass of the Resurrection on Monday, July 14 in St Mel’s Cathedral she was laid to rest in Ballymacormack Cemetery. May she rest in peace.
