North Longford businesses and residents discommoded by Granard power outages

The issue of power outages in the Granard area were discussed at a recent MD meeting.
Newly elected councillor Padraig McNamara (FG) submitted a motion on the issue.

“I call on Longford County Council to engage with ESB Networks in relation to the level of power outages in Granard town and surrounding areas,” his motion stated.

Speaking on the motion, the representative stated, “both businesses and residents were discommoded by these power outages.”
“I have engaged with the ESB on this issue. Elderly people have had serious problems, such as people who need oxygen for airbeds. These people had to be rehoused,” he stated.

His motion was supported by Cllr Turlough McGovern (Ind). “Two years ago, PJ Reilly (then a councillor) and myself engaged with the ESB, but we didn’t get a response,” he explained.
