Meet the candidate: Longford Municipal District Uruemu Adejinmi (Fianna Fáil)
Longford County Council have contacted the National Transport Authority to progress access to bus routes for residents of the village of Clondra.
Councillor Uruemu Adejinmi raised the matter at the March meeting of Longford MD when she called on the National Transport Authority to introduce a bus route through Clondra to connect the village to other communities, schools, shops and improve connectivity to other regional transport networks to facilitate onward travel to cities and colleges.
Cllr Adejinmi told the meeting the matter was of urgency: “I was shocked to learn that there is no bus stop in the village and people have to go to Tarmon to access public transport. For children going to the school they have to drive to collection points,” she said, “We really need to look at this.”
Longford County Council Senior Executive Engineer, Eamon Bennett said the local authority Road Design department have already been in contact with the NTA about a bus route through Clondra in order to progress the request.
