Funding support for two Longford groups

Heather Humphreys, Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.

Two Longford groups have received funding to assist with their energy costs. The Employment Development and Information Centre (The EDI Centre) and Radharc na Coille Estate Owner Management were successful applicants to the Community and Voluntary Energy Support Scheme (CVESS).

Over €3,500 will be granted to the Longford groups. Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys TD, and Minister of State Joe O’Brien TD announced the sixth and final tranche of CVESS recipients.

Hundreds of groups have already benefited under the scheme, which was launched in response to the rising cost of energy and the impact it is having on the sector.

Under this last tranche worth €78,991, an additional 30 organisations from across the community and voluntary sector will receive a one-off contribution towards the increased energy costs they faced in 2022. Payments will issue to the organisations immediately.

The Employment Development and Information Centre (Longford) CLG Longford was awarded €3,133, while Radharc na Coille Estate Owner Management CLG Longford got €405.

Radharc Na Coille offers a seasonal pre-school service to children aged between three and five years of age.

The EDI Centre, established in 1998 by LCRL and the Longford and District Council of Trade Unions, aims to address the needs of people who are unemployed or under-employed.
