'There are no words' - Funeral details announced for 16-year-old girl killed in hit and run

The funeral details have been announced for 16-year-old Mia Lily Keogh who was tragically killed last Saturday following a hit and run.

Mia Lily was walking on the Slane Road in Navan, county Meath, with her beloved dog Bowie, when she was struck by a car which failed to remain at the scene.

Mia Lily was treated at the scene before being transferred to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where she was later pronounced dead. Her dog Bowie also unfortunately passed away.

Mia Lily has been described as beautiful, kind and never without a smile. She leaves behind her heartbroken parents Stephen and Louise, sister Katelyn and her partner Junior, brothers Zack, Cole & Kai, grandparents David, Paula, Debbie and Tony, aunts Emma, Marie & Rachel, uncle Kevin, great aunts, great uncles, first cousin Ezra, cousins, beloved girlfriend Eimear, lifelong friend Hollie, teachers, neighbours and a large community of friends.

Hundreds of heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, expressing their grief and sadness at Mia Lily's untimely death, with one mourner writing,

"Louise, Stephen, Katelyn & boys my heart is shattered for you all on the loss of your beautiful, kind and talented Mia Lily. She was never without a smile and I can still see her coming through the doors of work and looking at all the nail polish with us heaven has gained another angel alongside her Nana Lily while Phoebe and Bowie play amongst the clouds. You are all in my thoughts and prayers x"

Another wrote,

"Louise and Stephen, I am so sorry for your loss. I was deeply saddened to hear of Mia Lily’s passing. I knew her only as the beautiful little toddler with two plaits and a bright smile, and that is how I will always remember her. Katelyn, I cannot fathom the pain of losing a sister. You loved and cared for Mia Lily as if she were your own. Nothing will ever make sense of what has happened to your family. Please be gentle with yourselves during this time. My sincere condolences, thinking of you all every day."

While another simply wrote,

"The country is brokenhearted for all the family. Such a tragedy."

In a statement released by her family earlier this week, Mia Lily's mother Louise said that she will "never be whole again" and that her heart will "always ache".

Louise described her daughter as "a gift" and a "truly talented girl".

"She was my daughter, but she was also a sister. Her sister left behind and her three baby brothers are never going to have the same life."
