Patrick Kielty has confirmed when RTÉ’s The Late Late Show is wrapping up for the summer, doing so with a healthy dose of his usual humour.
In a tongue-in-cheek video shared on social media, the RTÉ host leaned into the madness of his second season, poking fun at his age, newsroom chaos, and his sometimes strained relationship with TikTok trends.
The clip, narrated in the style of an AI voiceover trend, sees Kielty stumbling through Gen Z lingo, annoying his colleagues, and looking back on the season’s biggest moments.
Fans will have to watch right to the end to catch the real reason for the skit: a not-so-subtle hint that the final episode of the season is just around the corner.
The video signs off with a dry punchline, letting viewers know when Kielty is finally getting a break, and when they can catch his last show of the run.
The end-of-season moment caps off a significant year for the Co Down native, who took over as host from Ryan Tubridy in 2023.
While this season at the helm featured major guests, live performances and light-hearted moments, it has also seen him open up about more personal experiences.
Earlier this year, Kielty spoke candidly about the loss of his mother, Mary, sharing that she had been a devoted lifelong viewer of the Late Late for over 50 years.
Viewers have praised Kielty for striking a balance between heartfelt sincerity and quick wit throughout the run. From handling major interviews to embracing Irish culture, Kielty has helped steer the Late Late Show through a period of change.

So when exactly is the season finale?
After all the teasing, Kielty confirmed in the clip that the final show of this season will air this Friday, May 9, at 9.35pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player.
