The Irish Government has granted a temporary extension in truck drivers hours to ensure that parcels are delivered before Christmas following the delays in the aftermath of Strom Darragh.
This will allow drivers to drive longer with shorter breaks, but drivers can only avail of the extended hours twice a week.
The driving limit will be extended to 11 hours a day.

This is up from 10 hours a day that is usually allowed.
The driving time will be to capped at 60 hours per week up from the previous 56 hours.
A spokesperson from the Department of Transport confirmed that the new easing of restrictions is a national derogation and will not apply outside the Republic of Ireland.
