It was a Wednesday to remember at National Lottery HQ in Dublin as a host of recent winners collected prizes totalling nearly €8 million.
One of those who collected a life-changing prize was a Dublin man who won the Lotto jackpot of €6,756,855 in the draw held on August 17.
After claiming his winnings, the anonymous winner shared his lighthearted approach to playing the lottery: “I know it sounds bad, but I actually don’t usually bother playing until the jackpot gets really high," he joked. "I’ve always dreamed of winning big, and now here we are!”
It wasn’t until Tuesday that the winner realised his fortune, saying, “I saw an email saying I’d won over €100, so I thought, ‘class!’ But when I opened the app, it said I’d won €6.7 million. I was in complete denial until Martin from the Claims Department confirmed it—it was such a surreal moment.”
The Dublin winner plans to take things slow with his windfall, focusing on travel and sharing the prize with family, while continuing his day job and seeking financial advice.

The second-biggest prize to be claimed - €1,005,000 - was won by a Mayo man in last Friday's EuroMillions 'Ireland Only Raffle'.
The player, who purchased his winning ticket via the National Lottery app, described how a "quick pick" on the app's shake feature led to his life-changing win.
"I just gave my phone a shake, and the balls spun around, randomly picking my numbers. It was the second shake that landed me the million," he laughed.
“I thought I’d only won €5,000 until I saw a picture in the news showing a person from the Lottery posing beside a ‘Welcome to Mayo’ sign with a €1 million cheque!” he added. “
I actually won a holiday just two days ago, and now this. They say things come in threes, so let’s see if my streak continues!” The Mayo winner plans to spend his newfound fortune on a family holiday and his dream car.
Other winners who attended National Lottery HQ on Wednesday included a Cork player who claimed €50,000 from a Bingo Multiplier Scratch Card purchased at Tesco Douglas, and a Dublin man who took home €132,653 after he matched five numbers and the bonus in the Lotto draw on September 21
