A woman, aged in her 80s, has died in a traffic accident in Co Carlow.
Gardai are investigating the incident involving a van and the pedestrian that happened on Thursday afternoon.
The incident happened in an enclosed private car park in Presentation Place on College Street at approximately 4.30pm.
The pedestrian was taken to St Luke’s General Hospital in Kilkenny with serious injuries.
She later died and a post-mortem examination will be arranged.
Gardai said the van driver was uninjured.
A technical examination of the scene has been conducted and inquiries are ongoing.
Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to the incident, including any pedestrians who were travelling in the Presentation Place area between 4.15pm and 4.45pm on Thursday, to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area at these times are also asked to come forward.
