Gardaí continue investigation into murder at Naas housing estate

A man in his 40s has been arrested, charged, and has appeared before the courts

Gardaí have appealed for information from people who were in the Naas estate where a man's body was found on Sunday last. 

Padraig Delaney, 43, with an address at The Lane in Eustace Demesne in Naas has been charged with the murder of 36-year-old Shane Knott at the same estate in Naas. 

Mr Knott's body was discovered in the garden of a house in Eustace Demesne on Sunday afternoon.

He had sustained severe head injuries and gardaí said it was a violent death.

In a renewed appeal for public information, a Garda statement said this afternoon:

Gardaí are continuing to investigate the death of a man whose body was discovered at a residence in Eustace Demesne in Naas, County Kildare, at approximately 1:30pm om Sunday 14th April 2024.
 
As part of this investigation, Gardaí are looking to speak to people who may have been present in the Eustace Demesne housing estate and surrounding areas on Sunday 14th April 2024 and/or the preceding two weeks, and who have not yet spoken to Gardaí, to come forward.
 
A man in his 40s has been arrested, charged, and has appeared before the courts as part of this investigation. 
 
A murder investigation continues under the direction of a Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) at an Incident Room at Naas Garda Station.
