Donegal roads shut after alleged sexual assault on Christmas Eve

A woman was allegedly attacked on a public road in the Bunbeg area of west Donegal in the early hours of Christmas Eve

A number of roads in Gweedore were sealed off on Christmas Eve following an alleged sexual assault.

The incident occurred at around 2am on December 24 in the area of Bunbeg.

A woman was allegedly attacked on a public road. It is understood that the woman was allegedly set upon on a road close to a local premises.

As Gardai launched an investigation after a report was made, officers sealed off several roads in the area.

Officers are also going through CCTV footage as they attempt to source clues.

A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating an alleged incident of assault that occurred in the early hours of Sunday 24th December, 2023, at approximately 2am in Bun Beag, Donegal.

"Investigations are ongoing."
