Popular Midlands coffee shop and bakery closes its doors

A popular Midlands coffee shop and bakery has closed. 

A sign in the window of Stodge Face on Harbour Street in Tullamore simply states that the store is closed adding that the Portlaoise and Athlone stores remain open.

An email address is also provided on the sign. 

In December, Stodge Face was taken over by Laois man and Australian Rules Football Star Zach Tuohy who along with Murry Rogers own the Wandering Elk in Portlaoise.

At that time, Stodge Face founders Nigel and Morgan announced the change with a promise that most of their staff will be retained. 

"It’s been a while but we are back with some exciting news! We have decided it is time for us to move on from Stodge Face, however, Stodge Face will live on. Our friends at The Wandering Elk will be taking over from here and keeping you stocked up on all our delicious goodies!!"

Gardaí arrest and charge second teen over Longford shop brawl

Garda have arrested and charged a second teenager in connection to an unruly brawl inside a shop in Longford town, the Leader can reveal.

Announcing the move at the time, The Wandering Elk stated, 

Announcing the move, The Wandering Elk said: "We are are very excited for all that lies ahead. Huge thanks to our friends at @stodgeface for all their support. All Stodge Face locations will be reopened from this weekend with some exciting things planned over the coming weeks."
