Garda have arrested and charged a second teenager in connection to an unruly brawl inside a shop in Longford town, the Leader can reveal.

As first revealed, gardaí launched an investigation into the incident after two young men suddenly began exchanging punches inside the door of Spar, along Longford's main street on April 21.

Video footage taken from the scene showed a young man approach the counter before another young male suddenly appeared while appearing to video the other suspect on a mobile phone.

Seconds later, the two suspects could be seen grappling and throwing punches at one another as staff and customers looked on in disbelief.

The 90 second clip also showed how another man attempted to intervene as the fight between the two suspects intensified.

The violent brawl is eventually broken up when another man enters the store and escorts one of the assailants outside.

A number of customers who had stayed outside the store as the unruly events inside unfolded can be seen entering the store, clearly startled at what had occurred just seconds before.

The Leader revealed two weeks ago how gardaí had made a breakthrough into the case by arresting a charging a teenager over the incident.

This newspaper can now reveal that a second teenager has been arrested and charged.

Toluwalope Onayemi (19) 31 Kilglass, Glean Riada, Strokestown Road, Longford appeared at a sitting of Longford District Court on Tuesday charged with engaging in threatening and abusie behaviour and causing criminal damage.

He was remanded on bail and is due to reappear before the same court on June 20.
