A Longford man has been told to comply with the terms of a probation bond or run the risk of being brought back before the courts.
Paul Adetunji, of 55 Lana Aoibheann was given the warning by Judge Bernadette Owens at last week's sitting of Longford District Court after it emerged he had failed to attend court on two previous occasions to have his case disposed of.
Defence solicitor John Quinn said his client had previously been convicted of a number of road traffic offences by Judge John Brennan back in May, a ruling which is curremtly under appeal.
“He was deemed appropriate for a probation bond subject to a number of conditions,” he said, stating it was “some time ago”.
He added: “In regard to the probation report there are favourable points to it.”
Judge Owens agreed, sayin g she too found it to b e positive, but as Mr Adetunji didn't show up to court in October, she was not in a position to deal with the matter.
Mr Quinn said he even sent to the report to him with Adetunji revealing that he didn't read its contents.
In outlining some of the recommendations contained within it, Judge Owens urged Mr Adetunji to continue in his current employment, to attend for urine analysis if required to do so and attend meetings with his probation officer.
“If you don't comply with the probation bond, it will be coming back before me and I will be dealing with it in a different way,” she told him.
