The ‘Christian Presence in Morocco: Living Together’ exhibition was launched in St Mel’s Cathedral in Longford Town on Tuesday, November 22 and will run up to Monday, December 12.
The exhibition shows a retrospective look on some unknown episodes of history, tracing 800 years of Christian presence in Morocco.
Christian Presence in Morocco: Living Together examines Morocco’s reputation as “a singular civilizational model of harmonious living together.
It displays the visit of Pope Franis to Morocco in 2019 and commemorates the historic visit by Jean Paul II in 1985.
The first exhibition was previously presented in Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin in June 2022.
The exhibition was opened by Longford County Council Cathaoirleach Cllr Turlough McGovern.
It was attended by His Excellency Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco Lahcen Mahraoui.
Father James MacKiernan and members and management of Longford County Council were also in attendance at the event.
The exhibition is organised by Longford County Council and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco.
