Longford's former greyhound track has been identified as the preferred site by government bosses to construct modular homes for Ukrainian refugees.
Local authority officials, like their counterparts nationwide, were tasked with identifying sites as possible locations in which to meet the country's humanitarian crisis.
Head of Local Enterprise Michael Nevin said the two other sites included Connolly Barracks and a parcel of land in Abbeycartron.
Mr Nevin said any formal annoucement as to the next stage of those plans were still some way off with site investigation works yet to be fully completed.
Details surrounding those undertakings were, however, met with derision by Fine Gael Cllr Peggy Nolan.
She said the three sites identified were the three “low hanging fruit”, insistingg that if any of the three sites are provided to aid Ireland's humanitarian woes, the focus should centre solely Connolly Barracks' principal building.
“What's needed is for the department to look at the building at the forefront of the barracks and for it to be turned into a state of the art, high spec hostel after it is used to provide warmth an shelter to our Ukrainian refugees,” she said.
