Longford District Court: Man issued with compensation order

A Longford man who assaulted a woman and damaged the front door of a pub is to return to the court in two weeks time to pay the remaining part of a €500 compensation order.

Joseph Dunne (53) 10 Padraic Colum Heights, Longford had previously pleaded guilty to a section 3 assault and damaging the front door of Andy Byrne’s pub, Ballymahon Street, Longford on July 29, 2021.
Defending, Frank Gearty told Judge Bernadette Owens she had adjourned the case the last time it came before the court to allow Mr Dunne to comply with a €500 compensation order.

Mr Gearty said the accused had already handed in €300, but was “tantalisingly” €50 short after handing over another €150.
“He is asking for more time to pay the balance,” said Mr Gearty.
Judge Owens adjourned proceedings until June 13 for the remaining balance to be paid.
