April Longford District Court hearing for cocaine possession charge

The prosecution of a young man charged with possession of cocaine stemming from a 2019 Garda investigation has yet to receive the certificate of analysis from Forensic Science Ireland.


Evan Lynham (22), who has a charge sheet address of Tiermachen, Donadea, Naas, Kildare, was allegedly caught with over €6,800 worth of the Class A drug after officers from the Roscommon-Longford Divisional Drugs Unit stopped a car at Cloonahussey, Edgeworthstown, Longford on July 31, 2019, while a second charge of the theft of an eight pack of Bulmers cider from Tesco, Longford Shopping centre on July 17 the defendant has an address of no fixed abode.


The defendant was represented in proceedings by solicitor John Quinn. Inspector Paddy McGirl told the court the prosecution is awaiting a certificate of analysis on the drugs charge. Judge Bernadette Owens noted the matter is marked for hearing on April 25.


The court heard the defendant entered a plea of not guilty on February 7 last. The defendant was remanded on bail for three weeks to appear at the April sitting.
