A young man charged with an incident of violent disorder was served the book of evidence against him at Longford District Court.
Ben Curry (22) with a charge sheet address of Take Two, Deanscurragh, Longford will go before Longford Circuit Court on two counts.
The charges against the defendant are that on March 16, 22 at St Mel's Cathedral he engaged in violent disorder along with other named individuals. The second charge is that he was in possession of an offensive weapon on the same date.
Garda Arron Duffy gave evidence to Judge Owens of serving the Book of Evidence on the defendant on the day of the court sitting,
Inspector Paddy McGirl told the judge the Director of Public Prosecutions was seeking to have the matter sent forward for trial at the next sitting of Longford Circuit Criminal Court.
Judge Bernadette Owens issued the defendant with an alibi warning. The defendant will now be sent forward for trial in the Circuit Court in May. A number of conditions previously set out in his bail bond are still in place, including that he stays out of Longford except for court appointments.
