Michael Croghan. The digital artist had work selected for display in the Rotterdam Photo Festival
It's been a busy start to the year for documentary photographer Michael Croghan. The digital artist had work selected for display in the Rotterdam Photo Festival, an annual event that celebrates the spectrum of contemporary photography in all its diversity.
The festival of photography organises talks, workshops, and a fringe program with music and digital installations throughout the Dutch city.
“It was with great pleasure to have shared my work alongside Europe and international photographers,” Michael told the Leader, “I shared this moment with some of my family that travelled with me, and Rotterdam did not disappoint, an experience itself, a very modern city that I recommend any visit there is so much to see and do.”
The Longford photographer was delighted to be asked to take part: “The Rotterdam Photo Festival itself was a roaring success with a great many visitors and art critics. I made new contacts and friends with a shared love of visual and photographic art. Having my work selected and showcased on the international stage gives me great confidence going forward making new work.
“I want to thank Longford County Council and Longford Live and Local, Longford Arts officers Fergus Kennedy and Shane Crossan. whom both are very active on the local arts scene and helping to push locals like myself locally and beyond, they have been very supportive to me throughout this whole experience.”
Earlier this year Michael’s work was selected for an exhibition in The Lab Gallery, Dublin entitled 'A Perambulation'.
